Cemetery Policy

Cemetery Policy of Oak Grove Baptist Church  March 7, 2010
 
1. A family using a gravesite must present a deed, notarized statement of ownership, or will which gives ownership of the gravesite to the person or family member being buried there.  If no deed is presented, the cemetery book in the church office which shows ownership and the number of graves will govern the burial plots.
 
2. There is a $250 cemetery maintenance fee charged for all non-members who are to be buried in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  This fee must be paid to the church prior to the opening of the grave.
 
3. Oak Grove requires all burials to have a vault or an approved cement liner for the grave.
 
4. No permanent additions can be made to the cemetery of Oak Grove Baptist Church without prior approval of the church's Cemetery Committee.
 
5. Grave monuments are prohibited from having personalization which includes profanity, nudity, or vulgar imagery in any manner unbefitting a Christian cemetery.  The Cemetery Committee reserves the right to approve or reject any personalization on grave monuments.  If inappropriate items are installed without the Cemetery Committee's approval, the monument or items will be removed from the cemetery at the expense of the owner.
 
6. Not more than two cremated remains may be buried in any space.
 
7. No cremains (ashes from cremation) of any idividual will be scattered on the church property. 
 
8. No grave may be opened or monument installed unless a member of the cemetery Committee has marked the space.
 
9. The mortuary or grave openers are responsible for cleaning up the site.  They are not to leave dirt on other gravesites, on the parking lot, on the side of the road near the church,nor behind the ball field in the wooded area.  Oak Grove Cemetery does not provide a disposal space for excess dirt.  The mortuary or grave diggers are responsible for removing all excess dirt from the Oak Grove property.
 
10. The mortuary or gravediggers are responsible for repairing damage they do to markers, curbing, and graves and must promptly repair damage to the satisfaction of the cemetery committee.
 
11.  We do no discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.
 
 
Cemetery Policy Ammendment  October 17, 2010
 
1.  Oak Grove Baptist Church (OGBC) Cemetery Committee shall have the authority to remove all floral designs, flowers, weeds, trees, shrubs, or plants of any kind from the cemetery as soon as, in the judgment of the committee, they become unsightly, dangerous, detrimental, diseased, or when they do not conform to the general standards maintained.
 
2. OGBC shall not be liable for floral pieces, baskets, or frames in which or to which such floral pieces are attached.
 
3. OGBC shall not be responsible for plants or plantings of any kind damaged by the elements, thieves, vandals, or by other causes beyond its control.
 
4. OGBC reserves the right to regulate the method of decorating graves so that a uniform beauty may be maintained.
 
5. The Cemetery Committee reserves the right to remove dead or dying cut flowers, potted plants, or artificial flowers or arrangements of the same, and their containers or holders whenever the Committee deems necessary. 
 
6. The planting of any live shrubs, flowers, or trees on any lot is prohibited except with the approval of the Cemetery Committee; any such authorization, made on request of lot owners only, will be normally limited to the dwarf variety.
The Committee assumes no responsibility for any or all plantings under any circumstances.  Any plant material is placed at the risk of the owner.  Owners have the responsiblity of maintaining, trimming, pruining, etc. any plantings authorized by the committee for installation.
 
7. Flowers normally should be removed 7 days after the funeral service.
 
8. No glassware should be used in cemetery.
